ECS Release #6 6/15/18
ECS race night #6 is in the books! It was night full of hard charging racing action!
The R-Box started off the night with a drama filled feature race! Logan Benge was seeking his first win of the 2018 season as he tried to de-throne the ever fast Clayton Vanderploeg. Vanderploeg was hard charging and leading for nearly the entire race, but Benge was not backing down! Benge battled his way to make a last lap on Vanderploeg on the bottom and coming around turns 3&4 Vanderploeg and Benge made contact to bring out the yellow. Benge had to tag to the tail on a green-white-chequered finish. Nolan Freeman drove the wheels off of his #3 machine, but it wasn't enough to catch Vanderploeg as he streaked away to his 5th win on the season! Freeman would finish 2nd, Kaden Rice in 3rd, Knox Peterson finished 4th, and Kaelee Howe rounded out the top 5. The 250cc 4 Stroke division put on a four race 12 lap feature race showdown. Mason Suebert made it happen in the feature race putting on a dominant performance leading flag to flag. Ryan Suebert would finish 2nd, McKenzie Smith in 3rd, and Ayla Feia rounded out the field.
In the 390 Clone Flat Kart division Tony Gerdom stole the show yet again! Gerdom would win both heat races and capture the main event sweeping the night. Chad Nilles would finish 2nd in the A, Nathan James 3rd, Wyatt Teeter 4th, and Nathan Dailey rounding out the field in 5th.
Dylan Alexander finally got his first feature win of the 2018 season in the Adult Win Outlaws! Dylan duked it out with Kenzie the entire race before finally getting a run going down into turns 1&2 to take the lead and pick up the feature race! Kenzie Alexander finished 2nd, Spencer McCarty finished 3rd, John Hines in 4th, and Devon Brown rounding out the top 5.
The Box Stocks started off the feature race with one of the worst crashes seen in the box division at ECS. Luckily everyone was okay after the nasty crash on the opening lap. Cole Garner and McKenzie took some of the nastiest hits but were both okay, and Cole Garner even continued to race! The race then restarted and Cole Garner was the early leader even after kart-wheeling down the back straight. Gage Stevens was hard charging his way and was putting pressure on Garner in the early laps. Gage Stevens was able to get around Garner and take the lead! Back in the pack it was Lane Gerdom Stewart slicing and dicing his way into the top 3. Lane Gerdom Stewart made the move on Garner to drive from 11th to 2nd in the closing laps of the race. The Gasser, Gage Stevens, was too far ahead as he picked up his 3rd straight feature race and extended his points lead! Lane Gerdom Stewart would finish 2nd, Cole Garner was able to salvage a valiant 3rd place finish after being involved in the early race crash, Tyler Lee would finish 4th, and Mason Heimbaugh would round out the top 5! The Intermediate Wing Outlaws saw The Doctor, Alex Vande Voort, come back with vengeance after last weeks technical difficulty, he picked up his 5th feature race win! Bradyn Greubel would finish 2nd as he continued to put pressure on Vande Voort the entire race. DoraMae Bennett would finish in 3rd, Riley Dailey would finish in 4th, and rounding out the top 5 would be Kayden Clark.
The Open 500s would round out the night here at English Creek Speedway! The Professor, Nick DeMoss would hold for the win after the relentless attack from Carter Chevalier. Chevalier would finish in 2nd, Travis Hansaker would finish 3rd, Cliff Jones in 4th, and Josh Moffitt rounding out the top 5.
